dz satDormakaba has introduced secure access temporary (SAT) function for mechanical cylinder to enhance safety of occupants and property

With apartment and facility owners often facing the challenge of granting regular access to service personnel or selective access to their property, the dormakaba SAT function enhances safety via a mechanical master key system which grants temporary access to certain persons.

How it works:

SAT mechanical cylinder has two types of keys - the ‘proprietor key’ for the property owner which has full access to the door and the ‘service key’ for service personnel with limited access when permitted by the owner.

With the ‘service key,’ temporary access to the facility is granted to service personnel. When the property owner makes a small turn of the ‘proprietor key’ on the locked door and removes the key, service function is enabled. The turned key position provides access for service personnel to open, lock or unlock the main door and lock the door again from the inside with a thumbturn knob.

In addition to service function on the main door, the owner can also determine which inside doors can be opened with the ‘service key.’

After work has been completed, the service person locks the door again securely from the outside. If the service person has locked the door from the inside, the owner can still unlock the door from the outside, even if the key is inserted in the locked cylinder from the inside.

Once the property owners decide to restrict access to service personnel, they turn back the ‘proprietor key’ to the normal key position. Thus the door cannot be opened with the ‘service key’. In this way, the property owner has complete access at all times and can determine when and how long the 'service key' has access.

With a traditional Double Cylinder in lock position of the apartment’s main door, there is a risk of the occupants being locked inside in case of an emergency. Thus, nobody can escape in a panic situation. Most casualties in building fires are due to tenants being locked in their houses and are unable to open the door with the key.

The thumbturn cylinder installed at the inside of the door ensures free exit of occupants always without using a key. It avoids entrapment of occupants in case of any emergency like fire or smoke.
